On 5 May, Andreas Rimkus, Hydrogen Commissioner of the SPD parliamentary group, visited the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock. Julian Barlen (SPD), Katrin Zschau (SPD), Ulrike Kramm (advisor for fundamental issues of energy policy in the MV Ministry of Economics), Jens Scharner (Managing Director of Rostock Port), Prof. Matthias Beller and our Institute Director Dr. Ralf Tschullik presented the great potential of Rostock as a location to him on site. The topics were our project with Rostock Port, the energy port strategy with the initial project HyTechHafen (IPCEI) and the joint project with LIKAT on PtL fuels. In addition, current, energy policy issues such as the production, transmission and storage as well as distribution and application of hydrogen in the region were discussed. The role of green hydrogen and the transformation of the Port of Rostock towards a green energy port and its importance for energy security in the East with hydrogen, oil and gas were highlighted. After the visit to the port of Rostock, the group went to the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis, where reports were given on e-fuels and our joint "Power to Liquid" project.
