Rural areas will play a central role in the energy system in the future. This is where large PV systems are located and where wind turbines are installed. These regions in particular must be able to benefit from local renewable energies. As part of the "Wind and Communities" e-mobility study, IWEN shows how this can be achieved in the area of traffic transformation. On behalf of WIND-projekt Ingenieur- und Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, a methodology was developed that analyzes and evaluates e-mobility potential and requirements in municipalities. Based on this information, municipalities are empowered to make decisions on the design of public accessible charging infrastructure offers and/or combined offers of e-car sharing and charging infrastructure.
The concept development was funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport as part of the BMDV's Electromobility Funding Guideline. The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).
